Runner Finishing - Overlocking / Fringing / Mitres
M & M's Rug Shop provide a weekly service where we overlock or fringe runners and rugs. Any runners purchased at M & M's can be overlocked or fringed and returned ready for pick up, usually within 3-5 days.
Overlocking
The raw edge of your runner is overlocked, giving a smooth and straight finished end.
Fringing
A machine made, pre-fabricated fringe, that will suit most runners or rugs is sewn over the ends of your runner or rugs. Various colours and styles to choose from.
Mitred Ends
The border is returned at the ends of the runner. Made from an extra length of runner cut from roll. Gives a rug like border effect. Fringe can also be added. Mitres are possible on most runners cut from the roll, excluding rubber backed runners.
Carpet Overlocking / Edging
Carpet remnants, or left overs from wall to wall carpeting, can be bought in to be over-locked. These are a great way to have mats that match the carpet. Small carpet mats are a great way to protect the entrances on those rainy days. A tape border, up to 50 mm wide can give a carpet remnant a more rug like appearance, but does come at a rug like cost.
